    I still remember the first time I saw this specie and couldn't believe the crazy color!!!. New camera--pics show almost hot pink--definitely purple!!Extremely dense common to exotic woods. Kiln dried. If used for pens, I would recommend cutting either straight cross grain or on a 45% cut.
    A whole different look!!! .
