I am a veteran of 30 years of military service in 2 branches: US Navy (4 years) and US Army (26 years). I grew up in Western Montana and spent a lot of my teenage years exploring the wilderness and mountains of Montana and other Western states. As a result of my years of military service and backpacking experience, I have a lot of survival experience in a variety of climates and conditions. I have survived in temperatures as low as -60 degrees (Montana in the winter) and as high as over 130 degrees (Middle East in the summer) and can survive in just about any conditions imaginable.
I started Lone Wolf Survival and Adventure Gear because I saw that a lot of the so-called survival kits available online are full of a lot of cheap gadgets that are of limited (or no) use in a real survival situation and was concerned that people would buy those kits thinking they would be able to survive safely using them and then get in serious trouble when those gadgets did not perform well.
Based on my years of military experience and backpacking experience all over the Western USA, I realized I could develop survival kits that would be very useful in a survival situation/emergency. I researched a lot of survival related internet sites and read a lot of books and manuals on survival to add that knowledge to my personal experience. You see the results of all that in my survival kits.
Based on my research and experience, I have adopted a 4-tier survival kit strategy.
The first tier is an Every Day Carry (EDC) bag.
An EDC is designed to get you through the kinds of situations and minor emergencies you are likely to encounter any time you leave your home. It enhances the things you usually carry every time you leave your home, such as your wallet/purse, car keys and smart phone. It will get you through your day safely.
The next survival kit tier is a Get Home Bag (GHB).
It is a more comprehensive bag than and EDC and is designed to get you back home safely in an emergency, from the places you usually travel to each day, such as work or school. Depending on where you live and the emergency type (earthquake, hurricane, wildfire etc.), this trip back home could be a few hours or a few days.
The third-tier survival kit is called a Bug Out Bag (BOB).
A BOB is designed to help you safely evacuate out of the area of an emergency and to get to a safe place. The focus of a BOB is evacuation.
The fourth-tier survival kit is called an I'm Never Coming Home (INCH) bag.
It is designed for when you must leave your home due to an emergency and must relocate permanently or semi-permanently to a safe place. this is the most comprehensive survival kit.
