fixed ATTENUATOR
is a lossy fiber optic jumper (patch-cord) terminated with standard ST connectors.
The loss value is set at wavelength 1300 nm.
This specialized optical jumper may simulate the attenuation of a particular length of fiber optic cable.
It is used in testing of optical transmission equipment and components.
Also this attenuator is used to reduce a power level when an optical signal is too powerful at the receiver end in a short fiber optic link.
