Description
Both the 1995 & 1996 Motorsport Wheel Calendars, titled "In the Name of Style." MSW is part of O.Z. Wheel, a very upscale Italian wheel company that is heavily involved in the highest forms of global motorsports. These two calendars each depict a dozen motorsports scenes (that's 24 total) from series such as Formula 1, World Rally, DTM, LeMans, etc (no Nascar.) Large format, approximately 18" by 24" please see photo array. (Photo #4 shows the covers, with a measuring tape.) Some of the racing marques shown: BMW, Ferrari, McLaren, Cosworth, Peugeot, Ford, Renault, Toyota, Audi, etc, again please see photo array for samples. This is all original artwork
,
not more common photographs
... all done in a style that seems (to me) to be inspired by Impressionist painters: the overt visibility of the strokes to convey motion, the special stylistic emphasis on lighting, etc. In keeping with it being art, it's printed on very heavy matte stock (the calendars weigh nearly 2 pounds each!) This was from a "golden era" of automotive racing calendars, where companies sought to impress global audiences with actual
printed
material. From Europe, and representing lofty artistic ambitions by depicting the highest forms of motorsport, I could find none of these calendars for sale elsewhere, including looking through previous ebay listings...maybe the real definition of the oft-overused term "rare?" There is a close-up of the artist's signature in final photograph, again these are original racing art...24 pages and at a nominal cost for rare art: under for both calendars! What do you think your chances are of ever seeing these for sale ever again? I will pack these carefully,
this calendar pair only
, thanks for checking out my listing.
P.S. It seems MSW may have anticipated further artistic long-term use. Oh? Please note that they always printed the calendar portion along a narrow strip as the bottom of each page...so if you want to, you could trim that part off, leaving just the stunning motorsport art.
