Various North American Sports Teams commissioned Wilton Armetale, a company founded in 1892 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to painstakingly produce commemorative pieces for special events including Championships.  Some pieces are scarce and a few are rare.  However, this is the only one we are aware of which is most likely one-of-a-kind.
This incredible hand-crafted piece was presented by the New Orleans Saints to Al Wester in 1974 in appreciation of his service to the team as the original play-by-play announcer from 1967 until the 1970s.  This 12 inch (1 foot) diameter aluminum-based alloy metal plate is emblazoned in the middle with the raised Saints’ Helmet Logo along with "NEW ORLEANS" engraved on the top and "SAINTS" on the bottom.
The back of the remarkable plate is triple stamped with company identifying information in addition to the production date in Roman Numerals (MCMLXXIV) and Pennsylvania place of firing (Milton-Columbia, PA).
The pristine condition plate is sealed in the original clear protective plastic packaging, which includes the original brochure.  Until another of these is discovered, it must be considered a unique piece and the penultimate 1970s New Orleans Saints football collectible.
